# How does the D3S ID collect data?

## ANSI N42.42 is the answer

The D3S ID collects spectral data in ANSI N42.42 file format.

An ANSI N42.42 file is saved both when an identification is made in Search Mode and when a Confirmation Mode scan is completed.
