# How do I replace the D5 RIID's batteries?

The D5 RIID has both an internal rechargeable battery and replaceable AA batteries.

The AA batteries can be easily replaced via the accessible battery compartment. No additional tools are required to do so, and batteries can also be replaced without powering the device down.
